Hurricane Matthew

Before Hurricane Matthew hit there was a lot of talk. Me, Nick, and our friends were not worried. We figured it would be like the other hurricanes we have experienced. Lots of rain and some wind and flooding on the same streets as usual. But soon we heard school was cancelled and they were evacuating Charleston. We have been blessed with AMAZING friends here. I mean the best of the best. One of our friends is from South Carolina, and her parents still live here. And her extended family lives in North Carolina. Her parents offered us and some other friends their home for a few days and their cabins in the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina.

The drive to Greenville SC was long. Its normally less than 3 hours... but it was taking so long we stopped outside of Columbia (normally a 2 hour drive took us 5 hours). It took so long because Charleston is basically in the middle of nowhere. The roads aren't really made for a lot of traffic. So we woke up early and went the rest of the way to Greenville to meet up with our friends. We were living like royalty with my friends family. They really took care of us. They cooked for us, babysat so we could go on a group date, provided Dr. Pepper, and of course a warm safe place and a bed. After a couple days in Greenville we headed to Cherokee NC. On our there we stopped at an apple orchard. They had some real good apple cider donuts! We stayed in a couple cabins up there. It was so awesome. We got to see leaves change! We listened to ghost stories from a true mountain man in the Smoky Mountains. We went to a to blue grass concert in the Smokies too. It was just a nice break from reality.

Our drive home was supposed to be 5 hours... it was closer to 8. There were some road closures, car accidents, trees down, and power lines down but we made it. We were lucky our power was back on when we got home. Our neighborhood was without power for about 24 hours. But we didn't have to deal with any of that crap because of our good friends and their family.

Fall 2016

This fall as been one for the books. We moved right as me and Quinn got back from Utah. We only moved down the road. We had to evacuate (different post). My mom and Nicks mom came to visit. There were lots of play dates, and pool/beach days. Pumpkin patches and of course Halloween celebrations and a Thanksgiving feast. Nick spent a month in Savannah GA visiting us on the weekends. And just over a month in Newnan GA. Fortunately we got to spend a couple weeks with him there since it was too far for him to visit us on the weekend. And we can't forget teething!!
