Do you remember this post about answered prayers and how Nick needs ICU experience in order to get into a Masters Program? Well let me tell you another story....
In Utah getting ICU jobs are very competivtve. Because I swear everyone and their dog wants to be a nurse here. And most hospitals only hire nurses with ICU experience. Anyway Nick I decided that if he couldn't find an ICU job by December we would move out of state where he could find a job easier. So once we got back from Europe Nick started applying for jobs here in Salt Lake County. Because he doesn't have ICU experience he got rejection after rejection. We were both discouraged.
Then he got a call from The University of Utah Nero ICU. They wanted an interview. Nick worked with a nurse at St. Marks that also worked on that Unit at the U. She told him that the Nurse Manager doesn't hire nurses with no experience but she does interview a lot of people just cause. So even though Nick got an interview he wasn't too excited because he thought there was no way he would get it.
Before his interview he was sitting in the hall and he heard the Nurse Manager basically offering someone else the job. He was really discouraged. But he went into the interview anyway. The Nurse Manager told Nick she would let him know either way by Monday. So Monday came and nothing. So he called her Tuesday and she told him to give her another week. We were like ok whatever. So next Monday came and nothing so Wednesday Nick called her again. She told him to give her another two weeks. We were frustrated she wanted us to wait like a month. Nick was so annoyed he kept on saying, "Just tell me I don't have the job already." Well a couple days after she told Nick that she called him back. She told him, "I don't want to wait any longer. I'm just too excited, I just want you to know that I want to hire you." WHAT?! We were so excited! This is Nicks dream job as a nurse. And it will help him get into a Masters Program. The U has a awesome reputation and everyone that worked on that Nero Unit that applied for CRNA school last year got in.
There are other perks to Nick having this job. 1. He gets a free UTA pass. Which is awesome. We live right next to a trax station and there is a trax stop right by the hospital. So we are saving money and its so nice not having to worry about driving in the Snow and junk. 2. In six months he gets half off tution. And in a year I get half off tution. If we choose to do any classes or anything. Which he might have to for the future.
So we are staying in Utah... for a couple of years at least. And it amazes me how much everything falls into place. We are so blessed!

June 17th
I love June 17th.... do you know why? Cause its my birthday and I love birthdays. I think everyone should love birthdays and not have to go to work and just get to play all day. Not everyone agrees with me on this. But I'm pretty sure I am right. Its an excuse to do whatever you want eat whatever you want and have fun. People tell me when I get older I will not enjoy birthdays as much as I do now. But I doubt it. Because I will always love eating yummy food. I will always love icecream. And who doesn't like presents?
This year my birthday was pretty awesome. As in pretty perfect. I started off the day by sleeping in. What is better than sleeping in? Then Nick and I went to Zupas for lunch. I love Zupas. I love the salads, sandwiches, the drinks, the strawberries, the bread etc. Great now I want Zupas. After we got full we headed to the Zoo. Nick was nervous about going to the Zoo as two adults without children. But don't worry we fit in. There were actually a lot of couples there by themselves. I love the Zoo. I don't know why I love it so much. But I just do. It was prefect weather too. It was HOT but not so hot that we wanted to stay in the air conditioned car. I think my favorites would be the giraffes and the elephants... oh and the polar bears.
After the Zoo Nick and went for a drive. I love going for drives and just exploring. Then we did some shopping. Poor Nick hates shopping. Usually once we park the car he is like, "Ok are we done yet?" Like no joke. But he came and was a sport. Then we went to Nicks moms for cake and icecream. My cute niece decorated my cake. And it was yummy. She also made me chocolate dipped strawberries. Funny story when she told her mom that she made me chocolate dipped strawberries her mom said, "You never make me those." Her response, "Yeah well I like Kellie." haha Anyway after cake and ice cream it was present time... I got spoiled. I got work out clothes. Because I'm trying to work out more. Clothes from my favorite store. Sandals. I love sandals. And a new Iphone 5. YES! I needed I new phone so bad. I could sometimes make calls and most the time text. But that was basically it. And my screen was broken and taped together. ha. I had that phone for over 2 years. I love my new phone! It is so nice.
After presents Nick and I went to one of my all time favorite places to eat. We don't get to go there often because its expensive but I love it. Teppanyaki!!! I love it so much! Panda Express has nothing on them. Since it was a Monday and we went kind of late there was also like no one there. So we didn't have to share a table or anything. It was awesome. After dinner we went home and watched a movie. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day. Now I have to start planning Nicks birthday!
